How each one actually works
Laser targets pigment in the hair follicle, which means it works best on dark, coarse hair against light skin, and never fully finishes the job. Even in the best-case scenario, laser gets you a semi-permanent reduction over 6–9 sessions, and some regrowth is expected. It also doesn't work on light, fine, gray, or peach-fuzz hair, and it comes with real risk for darker skin tones.
Electrolysis is different. We insert a fine probe into the individual hair follicle and destroy it at the root — cutting off the blood supply for good. This is why electrolysis is the only permanent method of hair removal. It works on every hair color, every hair texture, and every skin tone, because it doesn't rely on pigment contrast. Once a follicle is treated, that hair is gone. Not "mostly gone." Gone.
So which one should you get?
Want permanent results, guaranteed, on any skin/hair type? Electrolysis.
Have a large area of coarse, dark hair and want faster reduction (with some regrowth expected)? Laser might make sense as a starting point — often followed by electrolysis for true permanence.
Dealing with PCOS, hormonal hair growth, or areas laser won't touch (peach fuzz, gray hair, light hair)? Electrolysis is your only real option.
